
Linda Doak
Counseling Approach and Areas of Practice
Linda enjoys working with adult individuals. She provides family group counseling for families experiencing loss and grief. Her specialties include: anger, anxiety, depression, abuse survivors, codependency, grief and loss, transitions, compassion fatigue, relationship issues, religious abuse, and women in ministry and spirituality. Linda has extensive experience in the managed care industry, which provides her with understanding of the stress in the corporate arena. Linda primarily utilizes a CBT approach, which has been demonstrated to be effective for depression and anxiety. However, she works with clients in a collaborative manner to adjust the treatment plan and modality to best serve client needs.
Personal
Linda is one of eight children, mother of two children and Oma to five grandchildren. She enjoys reading, travel, music, history and sewing, but her favorite time is spent just hanging out with family and friends. Over the years, Linda has served in various church and para-church ministries, including children’s church, youth ministry, women’s ministries, nursing home and hospital visitation, and has served on an interdenominational task force on religion and violence. Her ministry training and experience is helpful for those who wish to have their faith utilized as a resource in the counseling process.
