Avani is a Licensed Master Social Worker whose work with clients centers around a deep commitment to compassion, non-judgment and empathy. Specializing in supporting children as young as 5, teens, and young adults, Avani addresses a range of issues including various types of trauma, self-esteem challenges, attachment wounds, relationship challenges, OCD, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. For parents of clients under the age of 18, Avani offers skills-based parent consulting and coaching. Avani emphasizes the importance of healthy relationships as a crucial buffer against adversity, especially the parent-child relationship. Avani works to help her clients enhance and navigate these connections through therapy. Avani’s therapeutic approach is a blend of client-centered, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and insight-oriented therapies, tailored to meet each individual's needs.
Personal Information
Avani is a first-generation American with familial roots in India, Guyana, and Spain. She grew up in both New York City and Houston, alongside her two sisters and her parents. Avani is new to the DFW metroplex and has been enjoying exploring the cities with her partner, two cats, and puppy. Avani’s diverse background provides her with a rich understanding of cultural complexities and the experience of navigating multiple identities. Avani’s firsthand experience with the challenges of being "othered" or navigating different cultural identities allows her to empathize deeply with clients who may feel out of place— feelings many adolescents and teens are faced with. Avani’s background enriches her ability to connect with clients from varied backgrounds and support them in navigating their own experiences of feeling different.
