Dr. Jonathan Cude

Counseling Approach and Areas of Practice

Dr. Cude enjoys working with both individuals and couples. Although most of his clinical work is with distressed couples (affairs, divorce, unhealthy conflict, etc.), he also enjoys working with couples who are just starting out and couples who simply want more connection in their relationship. His individual work with clients focuses on adjustments to life transitions, grief, etc., as well as more complex diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, and substance use disorders. His approach to the couple's work is rooted in the research of John Gottman, Ph.D. He mainly works with individual issues utilizing a cognitive-behavioral approach which has been shown to be the most effective way to work with clients struggling with depression and anxiety.

Personal Information

Dr. Cude has been married to Ann, a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care nurse, for over 35 years. Together they have two grown children, both of whose families, fortunately, live in the area. As a family, they enjoy indoor and outdoor games, as well as just catching up with each others’ lives and just hanging out together. They are currently adjusting well to the empty nest.

Dr. Cude‘s background in ministry gives him the added skill set of dealing with clients from an integrated faith perspective when appropriate. He is experienced in giving presentations on marriage issues to local churches and other groups. Specifically, he enjoys the topic of “what makes marriages work and what makes them not work”.
